Buying a Valentine’s Day gift for your boyfriend and girlfriend shouldn’t be the source of stress that many make it out to be. With a little careful thought and consideration, you can make your Valentine’s shopping and planning virtually stress-free.

Instructions

    Be Romantic

  1. Step 1

Buy flowers as a Valentine’s Day gift. While flowers are generally meant for women, there’s nothing wrong with buying flowers for guys, so long as it’s tasteful. Roses, particularly red roses, are the most popular flower for Valentine’s Day. However, multi-colored roses are also a good choice, including pink, peach, yellow and white.

  2. Step 2

Buy flowers other than roses if you want to be unique, or if your girlfriend or boyfriend has another preference, such as gerbera daisies, lilies or tulips.

  3. Step 3

Buy chocolate, a tried-and-true gift for Valentine’s Day.

  4. Step 4

Buy a small stuffed animal or a plush heart, a perfect gift for teenagers and new boyfriends and girlfriends.

  5. Step 5

Buy a romantic, sentimental or sexy Valentine’s Day card. Make sure you include your own personal message.

  6. Buy Something Sexy

  7. Step 1

Consider buying lingerie for your girlfriend. For your boyfriend, consider buying lingerie for both of you (buying yourself some sexy lingerie can be a great gift idea for a man).

  8. Step 2

Shop at a few romance shops for other sexy Valentine’s gift ideas, including sex games, sex toys, costumes, massage oils and bath products.

  9. Be Creative

  10. Step 1

Make something special, sentimental or unique to give your boyfriend or girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.

  11. Step 2

Use your talents and skills to make something. If you’re artistic, make a homemade card. If you’re musical, perform a favorite love song. If you can write, write a poem. If you're an excellent cook, make dinner.

  12. Plan a Special Date

  13. Step 1

Plan a special Valentine’s Day date instead of a traditional “gift.” Plan something fun and unique.

  14. Step 2

Consider a surprise romantic weekend getaway for the two of you.

  15. Step 3

Consider your budget and location. (Where would your boyfriend or girlfriend like to go?)

  16. Step 4

Search online for a few ideas. Call for romantic weekend packages and compare prices.

Tips & Warnings
  • The gift you give your boyfriend or girlfriend should be indicative of the stage of your relationship. For example, a romantic getaway weekend is not appropriate if you just started going out. On the other hand, if you’ve been dating for several years, a card and a box of chocolates won’t suffice.
