How to Plan a Romantic Weekend Getaway

Life can get stressful and frustrating fairly easily. Take a break from responsibility by planning a romantic weekend getaway for you and your main squeeze. Weekend getaways are great because they are relatively inexpensive, but still give you the chance to remember why you love your significant other in the first place.

From Quick Guide: Romantic Getaways
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hotel reservations
  • Dinner reservations (optional)
  • Babysitter
  • Transportation to and from the getaway
  1. Step 1

Hire a babysitter if you have kids. Consider having your children stay at a relative's house, or have the relative stay at your house. If your children are older, consider simply having a friend check in on them once or twice a day.

  2. Step 2

Account for transportation. Book a flight, get bus or train tickets or rent a car in order to get to your vacation spot. If you're going to drive yourself, have your vehicle tuned before you leave.

  3. Step 3

Book a hotel room. Go for something romantic, like a cozy bed and breakfast or a suite with a king-sized bed.

  4. Step 4

Plan activities. You should leave your romantic getaway fairly laid-back with lots of free time, but avoid getting bored by choosing one or two fun things to do together and purchasing tickets in advance.

  5. Step 5

Make dinner reservations. For a romantic getaway, consider calling ahead to some fancy places to eat instead of scrounging for food when you get there.

  6. Step 6

Pack your luggage. Take only the bare minimum, but remember to include clothing for special events and fancy dinners.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep the getaway simple. Remember, it is for romance, not touring.
  • If you have pets, arrange for a friend can take care of them while you are gone.
  • Plan activities you will both enjoy.
  • Leave all of your work at home.
