Going out to a restaurant can be a special event, but sometimes when your husband gets home from a hard day at work, all he wants to do is relax. At times like that, you can plan a romantic dinner at home to surprise him and spice up your lives.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Romantic accent pieces
  • Kitchen appliances and supplies

    Prepare for Dinner

  1. Step 1

Determine what time your husband will be home. If you want to keep the romantic dinner a surprise, you can ask one of his coworkers to make sure he doesn't leave until a certain time.

  2. Step 2

Choose a menu. You can find recipes in cookbooks, online or by asking friends for suggestions.

  3. Step 3

Buy the food you will need to prepare the meal.

  4. Step 4

Buy accent pieces. Romantic dinners can include candles, fancy napkins, flowers and other romantic touches.

  5. Step 5

Do any prep work needed. Some recipes call for time for foods to chill, so you may need to prepare those in advance.

  6. Cook Dinner

  7. Step 1

Prepare the food for the meal according to your recipes.

  8. Step 2

Set the table while the food is cooking.

  9. Step 3

Wash dirty dishes as you go, so you won't have to do it later.

  10. Serve the Meal

  11. Step 1

Set out the first course moments before your main man gets home.

  12. Step 2

Use your microwave or oven to keep other courses warm while you are eating.

  13. Step 3

    Enjoy the romantic meal.

Tips & Warnings
  • After dinner, put the dishes in the sink and save them for tomorrow. It's better to continue having a romantic evening with your husband than to worry about doing chores.
  • If you've never prepared the meal before, have a back-up plan in case it doesn't work out.
