Tantra is an ancient Hindu yoga ritual of having sexual relations in order to reach ultimate orgasm. Orgasms achieved through Tantric sex involve the entire body, not just the genital area, and can be a very spiritual experience. The absolute goal of Tantra is to hold back the orgasm until it becomes an earth-shattering event that resounds through the entire body.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Massage oils
  • Special foods for a light meal before the ritual
  • Sheets of silk or soft cotton
  • Candles, preferably red, pink and violet

    Experiencing Tantra

  1. Step 1

The first step in achieving Tantra is to let go of any preconceived ideas of what an orgasm should be and allow your mind to explore everything it could be.

  2. Step 2

Bathe either together or separately. Use candles, bath oils and other specialty bath aids to help set the mood.

  3. Step 3

Eat a nutritious meal. A good meal along with good wine can help sustain the body during a long Tantric session. Good foods to choose include fish, white meats and honey.

  4. Step 4

Create atmosphere. Incense and candles can help enhance the mood. Violet-colored candles are considered to stimulate female sexuality, while red stimulates the male.

  5. Step 5

Massage each other using scented oils. Lavender can be used for relaxing the body, while Sandalwood or Patchouli can be used for more intense feelings.

  6. Tantric Sex Positions

  7. Step 1

Position yourselves with the man lying flat on his back on the bed and the woman straddling him, with her legs on either side of his hips.

  8. Step 2

Continue to massage each other’s bodies as you get ready for entry.

  9. Step 3

Allow the penis to enter the vagina slowly and keep the pace of love-making slow and even.

  10. Step 4

Withdraw if you feel the need to orgasm and allow the feeling to pass.

  11. Step 5

Hold back the orgasm for as long as possible—try not to orgasm before your partner does.

  12. Step 6

Allow your entire body, mind and spirit to feel the orgasm when it happens.

Tips & Warnings
  • If it is more comfortable, Tantric sex can be performed with the man sitting upright or reclining in a chair.
  • Do not be discouraged if you do not achieve Tantra the first few times you attempt the ritual. Like all yoga asanas, Tantra takes practice.
