So you really dig the blues and the show you’ve wanted to see has finally come around to your neck of the woods. Now there is the concern of how to get the best prices on tickets. By following these steps you’ll be grooving in five steps flat.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • transportation
  • tickets

Step1
Check out the group you want to see. If there is a certain group you are interested in, more than likely they have a website that has all of their tour dates, touring partners and locations on it.
Step2
Check to see if the group you want to see is a local act, try checking out the area ticket vendors for times, prices and date information. You can also check to see if the group has a website or a myspace page. The benefit of supporting local music is that often they’re brilliant and the prices are usually cheaper.
Step3
Try to buy your tickets from a reputable ticket vendor or from the box office where the concert is being held. Many ticket vendors hike up the ticket prices in order to make a better profit. If you can get your tickets from the box office, you run a better chance of getting a decent price.
Step4
Buy a CD if the group is a new experience for you. Listen to their disc a few times before you go to the concert. This will let you familiarize yourself with the band’s songs.
Step5
Dress appropriately for the show you are going to see. Blues shows will have everything from guys in jeans and t-shirts to full dress clothes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bring extra money. Sometimes with concerts there will be an opening act whose music is unavailable in stores as they are touring for the first time. Often there will be CDs and other merchandise available at the concert that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
  • Parking at a concert can often be a pain, try and get to the site at least a half hour early. You don’t want to miss half the show because you were trolling around the lots trying to find an empty space. If you know where the venue is, it might not hurt to scope out what kind of parking is available. If you have to park in a ramp five blocks away, check to see if there is shuttle service to and from the venue.
