Choose the TV Type
Step1
Select "TV Type" under the "Screen Setup" menu.
Step2
Choose the aspect ratio of the TV you plan to connect to the unit.
Step3
Choose "4.3 Letter Box" for a normal 4.3-screen TV player. This will give you a wide picture with bands on the upper and lower part of the screen.
Step4
Or choose "4.3 Pan Scan," also for a normal 4.3-screen TV player. This will give you a wide picture on the entire screen, cutting the sides of the picture off.
Step5
Select "16:9 / 4:3 Wide Mode" for a widescreen TV or a regular TV with a wide mode function. For the latter, this will give you a wide picture with bands on the upper and lower part of the screen.
Activate or Deactivate the Screen Saver
Step1
Select "Screen Saver" from the "Screen Setup" menu.
Step2
Choose "On." This will make the screen saver appear on the screen when you leave the player or the remote in pause or stop mode for 15 minutes. The screen saver will also appear when you play a CD for 15 minutes. This will protect the screen from damage.
Step3
Turn off the screen saver by selecting "Off."
Choose the Background Picture or Color
Step1
Select "Background" from the "Screen Setup" menu. This can be done in the stop mode or while playing a CD.
Step2
Choose "Jacket Picture" to display a still picture of the CD's jacket on the screen background. (This is possible only if the jacket picture is recorded on the CD).
Step3
Display your favorite picture in the background by selecting "Picture Memory."
Step4
Choose "Graphics" to display a preset picture on the background.
Step5
Set the background color by choosing "Blue" or "Black."
Choose the Startup Screen
Step1
Select "Startup Screen" from the "Screen Setup" menu. This will give you a startup image when you turn on the player.
Step2
Choose "Standard" to get the default startup screen in the player's memory.
Step3
Make your favorite picture the startup screen by finding the picture and then selecting "Picture Memory."
Adjust the Black Level
Step1
Select "Black Level" from the "Screen Setup" menu to adjust the picture when dark areas are too prominent or when the picture becomes whitish.
Step2
Choose "On" to set the black level of the signal to the standard level.
Step3
Select "Off" to minimize the standard black level. Do this when the picture is too white.
