It’s a polluted world. Toxins can enter our bodies through the air, the food we eat, even our thoughts. Here’s a step by step guide on eliminating toxins from the body.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Herbal remedies
  • Healthy food
  • A coarse brush
  • Purified water
  1. Step 1

Take herbal remedies. There are several herbs good for detoxification. These include milk thistle, dandelion, red clover, burdock, and sarsaparilla. They help the liver and kidneys flush toxins. There are a number of products available in either pill or tea form, such as Daily Detox. Vitamin C is an essential detoxifying vitamin.

  2. Step 2

Cut bad food from the diet: sugar, fried foods, fast food. You know junk food when you see it.

  3. Step 3

Cut out other products with unhealthy ingredients: shampoo and household cleaners with chemical ingredients. Natural products are available.

  4. Step 4

Eliminate other bad habits: excessive alcohol consumption, caffeine, and cigarette smoking.

  5. Step 5

Eat a high-fiber diet—fruit, vegetables, grains. At the same time, don’t overeat, even healthy food. Lessening the intake of food will help the body detoxify.

  6. Step 6

Exercise and/or sit in a sauna. Sweating helps the body eliminate toxins through sweat.

  7. Step 7

Brush the body with a coarse brush. The skin is a major eliminatory organ. Stimulating the skin will help the body detoxify. It’s also relaxing.

  8. Step 8

Drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out. Two quarts a day is recommended.

Tips & Warnings
  • It’s recommended that everyone detoxify at least once a year.
  • Cut out stressful parts of your life. This isn’t always possible—you can’t change where you work, for example. But try to alter how you focus on anxiety and insecurity. Physical detoxification can have a positive affect on emotional well-being.
  • Combine the above with yoga, meditation, or other form of relaxation—even just taking some time to listen to relaxing music.
  • Change the way you breathe. Take deep breaths, bringing oxygen to the blood. Really focus on your breathing, especially during times of stress.
  • Don’t detox too abruptly. It can be damaging to the system. Do the process for a week or more.
  • You may actually feel worse for the first couple of days of detoxifying as the impurities are being flushed out of your system.

on 9/14/2007 You miss the importance of colonic irrigation. I paraphrase Edgar Cayce here to indicate the importance of colonics to aid in detoxification - "Herbal laxatives increase not only the flow of lymph through alimentary canal, thus flushing the system, but induce a better flow through the activity of the kidneys and liver, and upon the respiratory system. But if these were taken ONLY, and just greater doses taken, gradually the effect of these lessens, and there is the dependence upon such for the activity of the organs themselves.

Hence when these are used, let them be used sensibly. Of course, these only throw greater amounts of poisons from the functioning organs and the alimentary canal into the colon proper. These are not always eliminated from same. A colonic enables the colon to be purified, thus causing a coordinating throughout the body."

on 9/11/2007 Haha. I already do all this every day. I would add, though, that it's also important to get enough sleep, which is something I have trouble with but really contributes to healing and cleansing and just making you feel better.
