In a twist on a favorite party game, this guessing game will reveal which of your guests know their stuff when it comes to the Academy Awards.

From Quick Guide: Academy Awards 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • List of current Academy Award nominees
  • Pen
  • Sticky name tags

    Oscar Party Identification Game

  1. Step 1

Gather sticker name tags and a pen when you know how many people are attending your party.

  2. Step 2

Write the names of the current Academy Award nominees (including Best Picture) on tags for everyone at the party.

  3. Step 3

Place a tag on the back of each guest as he or she arrives.

  4. Step 4

Instruct your guests to ask their fellow partiers to look at the tag on their backs. Then the tagee should ask yes or no questions to determine which name appears on the tag.

  5. Step 5

When a tagee guesses the identity of the performer or film, move the tags from the back to the front.

  6. Step 6

People can give hints to guests if they are having difficulty guessing their tag. Instruct your guests that they may not give hints regarding the movie an actor/director worked on if it is a current Academy Awards nominee, but past works are certainly allowed as hints.

  7. Step 7

Give awards, preferably resembling an Oscar, to the person who guessed first and the person who guessed last, once they all have guessed their tags.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have first, second, third and last place awards instead of just two awards.
  • For variation, consider using only previous Oscar winners as your stars. This creates a greater challenge and the game can recall the glorious days of the silver screen by using legends like Doris Day or Humphrey Bogart.
