How to Handle the Helicopter in Dead Rising
While the Special Forces patrol the halls of the mall, a rampaging helicopter orbits Leisure Park, watching for you. It won't shoot the zombies except accidentally, but it will shoot at you. If you must go through Leisure Park, beware of the skies.

1
Stock up on health restorers like OJ and wine before you go through Leisure Park.
-
2
While in the park, run between trees. Trees provide the best defense against the helicopter. There are enough trees in the park to protect you for most of your journey across the park.
-
-
3
Use the double-tap dive to jump out of the way if you hear gunfire or a roaring noise. The roaring noise indicates that a helicopter has launched a missile.
-
4
Take cover underneath the picnic shelter if you need a break. Neither the gunfire nor the missiles can penetrate the shelter's roof.
-
5
Use the machine gun or heavy machine gun to shoot down the helicopter. Of the readily-available guns, these are the most powerful. The heavy machine gun may be a challenge if you didn't have one before the Special Forces showed up.
-
6
Use the Clock Tower as cover when engaging the helicopter. The helicopter flies in a counterclockwise pattern from Paradise Plaza to the Food Court, then past North Plaza and back around. It does not break this pattern. Thus you can stay on the side of the tower that the helicopter approaches, shoot at it and run around to the other side.
-
7
Aim for the tail rotor. This may be challenging, but the helicopter's only vulnerable spot is its tail rotor.
-
8
Avoid the helicopter altogether if you can. Use the secret passage from Paradise to Wonderland. You could also cross the Maintenance Tunnels if you feel like braving the zombie horde.
