Step 1
This color will work best on people whose natural hair color is light brown or lighter and whose complexion is fair or light.
-
Step 2
Start with a base color of medium honey blonde. This shade is warm and adds color to a pale complexion.
-
Step 3
Add platinum highlights for greater depth to the hair color. Concentrate ribbons of thin highlights around the face to brighten and frame it. Be sure the highlights are done in thin sections to ensure a blend with the all-over color; you don't want pronounced or chunky highlights.
-
Step 4
Add highlights sparingly to the rest of the hair to blend the lighter front with the sides and back.

Step 1
Kelly Ripa’s hairstyle relies on subtle layers for its bounce and movement. This hairstyle works best on fine- to medium-textured hair that is naturally straight or only slightly wavy.
-
Step 2
This style works best on hair that is approximately 2 to 3 inches past the shoulders.
-
Step 3
The hair is cut in a long bob-type style. Subtle layers are then added to the last 2 inches of hair to allow for more body when styling.
-
Step 4
Next, layers are added around the face. These layers are shorter, starting at approximately chin length and blending into the length and longer layers. These shorter layers allow for maximum movement around the face and allow Kelly to flip her hair back off her face. They also show off waves created by hot rollers or large curling irons.
-
Step 1
To style your hair like Kelly Ripa’s, use volumizing products such as mousse or root spray on damp hair.
-
Step 2
To get maximum volume, flip your head upside down and blow-dry the roots of your hair as you use your hands to lift the roots away from your scalp. This technique builds volume at the roots.
-
Step 3
Once your roots are dry, use a large, round bristle brush to dry and style the mid-shaft and ends of your hair. Start at the roots and blow-dry small sections of hair at a time. Wrap the last 3 inches of hair around the brush and hold the blow dryer on the hair for a few seconds. Then let the hair gently slide out of the brush. This should create very soft waves in your hair. Continue this process until all your hair is dry and styled.
-
Step 4
To finish off, use a large-barreled curling iron to create more defined waves or curls.
-
Step 5
Your last step is to use a small amount of styling wax to define and separate. Coat your hands with the wax and gently run them through your hair. Concentrate on coating the ends of your layers to add dimension
