You can enjoy an outdoor concert in Greene County, Ohio, except during winter. The only singing you'll hear during those cold, cold months is caroling. However, the outdoor concert fan can hear a wide range of music throughout spring, summer and fall each in pretty Greene County.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Transportation
  • Tickets
Step1
Bring a lawn chair to the Free on Friday concert series at the community park in Fairborn. These are evening shows, beginning in May and running through July.
Step2
Check out the Band of Flight Glenn Miller Tribute outdoor concert at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Step3
Hear bands at the Yellow Springs Street Fair in June. The music returns in October for the fall installment of this event.
Step4
Toast the United States at the Independence Day Celebration at the community park. Free outdoor concerts by a variety of musicians add a lovely spark to the fireworks.
Step5
Top off the summer with a visit to the Greene County Fair in Xenia. In addition to the contests and rides, you can enjoy outdoor concerts by local and regional musicians.
Step6
Catch an outdoor concert at Cedarfest, held over Labor Day weekend in Cedarville.
Step7
Enjoy outdoor music throughout the Dayton Art Institute celebration of Oktoberfest. If your hankering for traditional German culture is still unsatisfied, stick around for the music and fun of the Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cedarville is the birthplace of Labor Day, so the party is definitely over the top.
  • There’s plenty of music indoors in Greene County, too. The Live at the Lodge series lets you hear local and regional musicians for a small donation, and you can check out the Miami Valley Flute Circle at SunWatch Indian village throughout the year.
