How to Mount a Ceiling Fan

Installing a ceiling fan is not difficult if you have all the parts and tools. To mount a ceiling fan, follow the instructions below.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Determine the center of your room and mark it with chalk. If a ceiling fixture was previously installed there, then skip this step.

  2. Step 2

    Saw a hole in the ceiling large enough for the junction box.

  3. Step 3

    Install the junction box.

  4. Step 4

    Assemble ceiling fan.

  5. Step 5

    Install the hanger pipe.

  6. Step 6

    Turn off the power to the circuit, and then attach the ceiling fan base and hook up the wires.

  7. Step 7

    Install the blades. If there is less than a screwdriver’s distance from your fan to the ceiling, install the blades before hooking the fan to the junction box.
