You can install a video intercom system in your home that will allow you to see and speak to visitors without opening your door. Follow these steps to add this device to your home security system.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cables and extra components
  • Video intercom system
  1. Step 1

    Attach the power adapter for the intercom.

  2. Step 2

    Connect the conductors for the door camera and monitor.

  3. Step 3

    Connect wires from the main terminal to a magnetic contact for a door or window.

  4. Step 4

    Connect the wires for the lock release.

  5. Step 5

    Install the video monitor—choose a suitable place in your home for the wall plate.

  6. Step 6

    Install the camera.

  7. Step 7

    Connect the camera to the monitor.

  8. Step 8

    Power-up the system and ensure it works.

Tips & Warnings
  • Installing a video intercom system can be tricky—you must connect many wires to other parts of the system and to your home.
