Things You'll Need:
- duvet and its cover
- or pillow and its cover
-
Step 1
Spread out the empty duvet cover, with the open bottom at the foot of the bed, and undo the buttons.
-
Step 2
Grab the corner at the top of the cover with your "outside" hand.
-
Step 3
With your "inside" hand, reach INSIDE the duvet cover and grab that top corner and pull it all the way through the cover until it's poking out the bottom.
-
Step 4
Grab the corner of the duvet itself and place it right next to that "poking out" corner. With your "outside" hand, pull both the corner of the cover and the duvet itself--you're now pulling the duvet up inside the cover, holding on to both it and the corner at the same time.
-
Step 5
Once the duvet has been pulled all the way up into the cover, button the buttons.

on 7/7/2009 After struggling for over a year with this problem, I decided to create duvet cover clips that at both functional and decorative. These clips aid in putting the duvet in the cover and also keep the duvet from shifting while in use. Please visit duvetcoverclips.com. I think you'll like them!

on 11/17/2007 I just turn the cover inside out, grab the top two duvet corners with the corners of the cover and shake the duvet into the cover.

on 10/6/2007 hikernb, thank you very much for this article. Finally, after a year of having a duvet, I finally picked up a cover tonight. I didn't know which end went which way (buttons at top or bottom); thanks to your article, I now know, and putting the duvet in the cover was a piece of cake!
