Working at a resort can help boost your résumé and can be a great experience too. Here's how to find a position.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Go online and research different types of resorts and what jobs might be available at them. Decide what type of resort and type of job you want.

  2. Step 2

Decide where you would like to work. Resorts are usually located in attractive areas in the mountains, desert or seaside. Think about traveling to another state or even another country to work.

  3. Step 3

Choose a few jobs that interest you. Consider your strong points and interests. Then choose a few resorts that attract you and look for a match. Call each of your prospective employers and ask that the jobs entail. The same positions may carry different responsibilities, depending on the resort.

  4. Step 4

Research the resorts before applying. Find out what accommodations, attractions and themes they have. Look for information on employee housing as well. Find out what sort of clientele frequents the establishment.

  5. Step 5

Send a résumé. Write a separate résumé for each resort, using your research to target the job you want. Accompany the résumé with a brief but comprehensive cover letter.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some resorts may have job applications on their Web sites that you can fill online or print out and mail. Take advantage of this.
  • If the resort does not offer housing for employees, it may be difficult to find affordable accommodations in the area. Go online and visit local real estate Web sites to get an idea of rents on short-term housing. Many resort areas have efficiency apartments that rent by the week or month.
