1
Decide whether you want to fly or drive to San Diego. If you can find a deal on ticket prices, flying could be as cheap as driving. Bringing your own car, however, will give you more flexibility.
-
2
Plan your sightseeing. Get a visitor's guide and decide what you would like to see. Some tours and attractions may require reservations.
-
-
3
Once you decide which attractions you want to visit, find a hotel close to a majority of the sights. If you belong to a travel club, see if they offer any discounts for particular hotel chains.
-
4
Get to know the city beforehand by looking at maps. Note where the attractions are located and the major streets and intersections near them.
-
5
Pack accordingly. The temperature in San Diego in the summer is fairly consistent, with average highs in the high 70s and lows in the high 60s (degrees F). Bring a dressy outfit for going out on the town, too.

Plan for unexpected expenses; tips, public transportation, or souvenirs.
Only carry a minimum amount of cash. Traveler's checks and credit cards are a better option; they can be replaced if they are stolen.
