Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Research travel costs to Phoenix by calling a travel agent or doing research on the Internet.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether you would like to travel by plane, train or automobile. Each has pros and cons. If you take your own car, you'll have more flexibility and independence, and won't have to get a rental car. Sometimes airlines offer discounts on flights to major cities, so it might be cheaper to fly.

  3. Step 3

Decide which attractions you would like to visit and whether you want to take a more educational or recreational approach to sightseeing.

  4. Step 4

Reserve your accommodations. Research hotels that are in the neighborhood where you plan to do most of your sightseeing. If you belong to a travel club, see if they offer discounts at particular hotel chains.

  5. Step 5

Order a visitor's guide from the visitor's bureau, or get one from your travel agent. Study the map that comes with it and get to know the major thoroughfares and intersections of the city.

  6. Step 6

Pack for Phoenix. Remember that the average summer highs in the city are in the 100s and the average lows are in the low 80s. If you think that you might visit somewhere that might require formal dress, plan for this also.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget to pack plenty of sunscreen and a hat.
  • Take only a minimum amount of cash. Bring money in the form of cashier's check and credit cards. Both are easy to report stolen, and can be replaced.
