How to do Gwyneth's eye in Royal Tenenbaums

The movie was a royal disappointment. However, Gwynnie's eye makeup wasn't. Here's how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

1. Procure the fabulous (and my favorite) eye pencil from Urban Decay: 24/7 glide-on eye pencil in the color, Zero. Which is, simply, black.
2. Push your eyelid down so that your inner lashline is revealed. Draw your black line here. Don't draw ABOVE the lash line--if you draw above it will close the eye and make it appear as though you've just been punched in the face.
3. Now draw a line on the lower lash line--follow your natural eye contour into the inner eye and smudge with your finger until there is no discernable line.
4. Shockingly, I'm going to advise you to go easy on the mascara. Normally, I like coating and coating and coating until the difference between an ACTUAL spider and your eyelashes is negligible. But when doing a dark liner, keep your lashes feathery.

Tips & Warnings

• Try the whole look with a shimmery kohl pencil for, well, a shimmery version.
• Use pencils which state "waterproof" or "smudge-proof" otherwise you'll be wearing this smoky look on your lips.
