If your home stereo speakers are old, rare or very expensive, finding someone to repair them can be a challenge.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • computer
  • phone book
  1. Step 1

Look on the back of the speakers to determine their manufacturer, model name, serial number and power specifications. Most repair shops need this kind of information to determine if they can fix a set of speakers.

  2. Step 2

Look in the audio and electronics sections of your local phone book for shops that offer repair services.

  3. Step 3

If you can't find a local service in the phone book, search for your speaker manufacturer on the Internet and see if they have a service phone number you can call. If so, ask them to recommend a repair shop near you.

  4. Step 4

You may also be able to find an online service that does repairs, or one that helps customers find places that repair specific speaker brands.

  5. Step 5

If you have exhausted all your resources and still can't find someone to repair your speakers, you may have to do it yourself. Many Web sites offer how-to guides on speaker repair, or sell parts and accessories.

Tips & Warnings
  • Word of mouth is often the best source for finding repair service. Ask around at speaker sales shops to see who they recommend.
  • If you choose a mail-order repair service, insure your speakers before you ship them.
