Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
You may bring an RV to Platte River Campground in the park. You will find electric hook ups, showers and restrooms. In addition, you may tent camp in this campground.
Step2
The D.H. Day Campground is more rustic in nature. Again, you may bring an RV, but there are not any hookups available. Trailers and tents are also welcome. There are vault toilets within the campground.
Step3
If you would like to backpack, backcountry camping is permitted on North and South Manitou Islands. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, you will need to catch the ferry to the islands.
Step4
In addition, backcountry camping is available on the mainland at the White Pine and Valley View campgrounds. You may obtain water from Lake Michigan if you camp at White Pine. If you camp at Valley View, you will need to bring your own water.
Step5
You must pay entrance fees as well as camping fees.
Step6
You may reserve family or group campsites at Platt River Campground. Group campsites can be reserved at D.H. Day and Bay & Weather Station. You must have at least seven people to use a group campsite.
Step7
If you need to make a reservation, you may do so up to six months in advance by calling (877) 444-6777 or by going to www.reacreation.gov.
