How to Camp in Rocky Mountain National Park

Camping is a relaxing activity that can help soothe some of the stress we feel in today's world. Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the top spots for this popular past time. Read on for more information on how to camp in Rocky Mountain National Park.

  1. Step 1

    You will find five campgrounds at Rocky Mountain National Park. One of these campgrounds accommodates group camping.

  2. Step 2

    You may make reservations for summer camping at Moraine Park and Glacier Basin campgrounds. Call (800) 365-2267.

  3. Step 3

    In campgrounds that are open all year, the water is turned off in the winter. However, you may obtain water from entrance stations and any visitor centers that are open.

  4. Step 4

    There are maximum stay limits. In the summer, the limit is seven nights except for Longs Peak which is three nights. The limit is 14 nights in the off season for those campgrounds that are open all year.

  5. Step 5

    You may bring either two tents or one vehicle and one camping unit such as an RV or tent per site.

  6. Step 6

    In July and August, plan to arrive early. Campgrounds are generally full by early afternoon.

  7. Step 7

    You may make a fire in the fire grates only. You may not gather wood, but you may buy firewood bundles at the campgrounds.

  8. Step 8

    Individual campsites are $16 per night in the summer and $10 per night in the off season.
