Step1
Plan ahead. How long do you plan to be out camping? When do you want to camp?
Step2
Once you have established a broad idea of when you plan to camp, narrow the dates down to one or two ranges.
Step3
Reserve your campsite. You can do this by calling (877) 444-6777 or by going to www.recreation.gov and requesting a site at the Mather, Desert View or North Rim campgrounds.
Step4
Pack for your trip. Only bring as much gear, food, water and clothing as you will need to have available.
Step5
Plan other activities for the time of your trip. Check for a schedule of events.

  • Reservations are essential and sites are often booked well in advance.
  • The time of year will determine which campsites will be open and available.
  • Be aware of the rules associated with the campsites and follow them. Respect other campers and the national park.
  • Keep in mind that camping is only allowed in designated areas of the park.
