Astrakhan Airlines is based out of Narimanovo Airport in Astrakhan. It is a fairly old airline compared to other Russian airlines, but it is also very small, only offering a couple of scheduled flights. Book one of these routes for your travel plans.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Valid passport and visa

Book Your Ticket on Astrakhan Airlines

  1. Step 1

Book your ticket through a travel agency. The service will cost a fee, but you can bypass the language barrier and avoid some frustration.

  2. Step 2

Book your ticket in person. If you speak Russian or have a Russian friend willing to help you, find an Astrakhan Airlines ticketing office or go to the Narimanovo Airport. Find the appropriate ticketing agent. This is often the cheapest method for booking Russian air travel.

  3. Step 3

Find a travel agent who is familiar with airlines in this part of the world. A small regional airline like Astrakhan Airlines will not be easy to deal with for a non-Russian-speaking traveler. A capable intermediary will be necessary.

  4. Choose a Departure City and a Destination

  5. Step 1

Fly domestic on Astrakhan Airlines between Astrakhan and Moscow. This is Astrakhan Airlines' only domestic route. It is a relatively short flight (approximately 2 1/2 hours).

  6. Step 2

Fly internationally from Astrakhan to Aktau, Kazakhstan. This is one of Astrakhan Airlines' two international flights.

  7. Step 3

Fly internationally from Astrakhan to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Astrakhan Airlines only has three scheduled flights. Other flights can be chartered.

Tips & Warnings
  • Narimanovo Airport in Astrakhan has the airport code “ASF.”
  • There is no English booking Web site for Astrakhan Airlines.
  • A passport and visa are required to enter Armenia and Kazakhstan. Seeing as how Russia requires a passport and visa, international travel between these countries can lead to the paperwork piling up.
  • Check in at least 45 minutes prior to your departure time. Some airlines will not allow any check-ins as early as 40 minutes prior to departure.
