Instructions

  1. Book Your Trip

    • 1

Contact Vietnam Airlines directly to book your ticket by phone at 011 (+84) 4 8320320. They have branch offices in almost every country they fly to, making over-the-phone reservations a breeze.

    • 2

Book your ticket through a travel agent to avoid communication confusion.

    • 3

Purchase your ticket at the airport ticket counter. If you plan to use this method to book your ticket, do so in advance of your departure date.

    Know the Facts

    • 4

Check with the airline before booking your ticket to determine what type of aircraft you will be traveling on. Vietnam Airways has had three fatal crashes within 10 years, but has since eliminated all of the equipment involved in these types of accidents. As these statistics make some travelers uncomfortable, it's best to do your research before you fly.

    • 5

Take comfort in the precautions taken after September 11, 2001. Vietnam Airways updated all of their aircraft with locking systems to protect the cockpit, added more security at check-in and updated their screening machines.

    Be Prepared

    • 6

Get a visa. All non-Vietnamese citizens need a visa to enter the country. It is best to apply for one as many as six weeks before your departure date.

    • 7

Perform due diligence before traveling to avoid potential problems departing and boarding your plane. Depending on where you depart from, a Yellow Fever immunization certificate may be be required.

    • 8

Check into the health precautions you should take when traveling through Vietnam. Although no immunizations are required to enter the country, the CDC recommends vaccinations against typhoid, rabies, Japanese encephalitis and hepatitis A and B.
