Instructions

  1. Book Your Tickets on Aero Mongolia

    • 1

Use the online reservation form on the Aero Mongolia Web site to book your ticket (see Resources below). It's the easiest way to secure your seat from abroad. Just have your passport number ready to punch in as you fill out the form.

    • 2

Call the Aero Mongolia central ticketing office at 011 (+976) 11 330 373 to reserve Aero Mongolia tickets by phone.

    • 3

Head for a ticket agent in Ulaanbaatar or Huh-Hot for one-on-one attention from a representative. Here, you can ask any questions regarding Aero Mongolia's policies. There's not much information on the Web site.

Choose a Departure City and Destination Served by Aero Mongolia

    • 4

Select Huhhot, China, Irkutsk, Russia or Cheongju, Korea as your departure city from abroad. Aero Mongolia does not fly to the United States.

    • 5

Plan to spend a lot of time in Ulaanbaatar. With just a few exceptions, most flights depart from and fly through the capital.

    • 6

Fly out to Ulaangom, located near the Russian border. It's one of the lowest points in Mongolia and Aero Mongolia provides the only air link to the city.

    • 7

Depart for Khovd, at the base of the Altay Mountains for its late summer watermelon harvest and its top-quality seasonal meat. Also discover its 16 ethnic groups, each continuing its own distinct culture and traditions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Flights do not depart daily, but rather two or three times a week. Keep this in mind as you book your travel itinerary.

  • Consult Aero Mongolia's flight schedules before making travel plans. The schedules change between seasons. There are many more flights available during the summer.

  • All phone numbers include the U.S. international prefix "011." When calling internationally outside the United States, substitute that "011" with "00."

  • All country codes are within parentheses and begin with a "+" sign.

  • There are no flights to and from Khovd, Murun and Bulagtai during the winter.

  • Plan your trip between May and September. During these months, the weather is more hospitable for travel and the availability of flights is much better.

  • Aero Mongolia may be a fairly new airline, but its president and board members of the airline have over 20 years of experience in airline services. Pilots were trained at Sweden's top-notch SAS Flight Academy, while engineers and technicians trained at the Fokker Service Centre in the Netherlands.

  • Be aware that different sources may use different spellings of Mongolia's cities. You may think that Aero Mongolia does not service a particular city when in fact it does because the Web site uses another spelling.
