"Deutsche Bahn Holding" (DBAG), a public limited company and a successor to the state railways of Germany, was founded on January 1, 1994. Riding DBAG trains is an enjoyable way to see the German countryside in comfort. Follow these steps to start planning your trip.

Find Train Times for DBAG

Step1
Visit the DBAG Web page (see Resources below) or call Die Bahn's UK ticket reservation number at 011 (+44) 08702 43 53 63 for more information.
Step2
On the Web site, type in the station or stop you want to start your journey from in the "From" box.
Step3
Type in your destination station or stop in the "To" box.
Step4
Enter your "Outward journey" date and time or use the interactive calendar.
Step5
Enter your "Return journey" date and time or the interactive calendar.
Step6
Select the "Means of transport" you want. click "More" (in red) to view icons for the choices you have.
Step7
Check the appropriate box next to "prefer fast connections" and "carriage of bicycles required."
Step8
Indicate the number of passengers traveling by the type and the travel class you want.
Step9
Push "Search connection" to complete your query.
Step10
Review the options that meet your criteria and print a copy of the itinerary you plan to follow.

Create a Personal Time Table Online

Step1
Visit the Personal Time Table link.
Step2
Type in your start and destination locations.
Step3
Select times for both the outgoing and incoming journey.
Step4
Determine if you want to download the time table from the Web site, or if you'd prefer to have it emailed to you.
Step5
You may elect to have the information in PDF, PDB (for Palm), or J2ME (for Java mobile phones).
Step6
Select any additional options and press the "Create" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Small dogs (up to the size of a house cat) travel for free when transported inside a suitable carrier. Bigger dogs must be muzzled and on a leash. For them, you have to pay a fee equal to the cost of second-class fare for children. Guide dogs are free.
  • Ticket counters at major stations are open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. to provide information to travelers.
  • Smoking areas are available on board, but common areas are all smoke-free.
  • As in airports, never leave your baggage unattended in train stations. If you need assistance with your luggage, DBAG offers porter services for a fee. There are also lockers for rent at some stations.
