Tips & Warnings

  • Small dogs (up to the size of a house cat) travel for free when transported inside a suitable carrier. Bigger dogs must be muzzled and on a leash. For them, you have to pay a fee equal to the cost of second-class fare for children. Guide dogs are free.

  • Ticket counters at major stations are open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. to provide information to travelers.

  • Smoking areas are available on board, but common areas are all smoke-free.
