Book Your Train Travel From Dallas to St. Louis

  1. Step 1

Book your tickets on the Amtrak Web site if you want to secure the best fares (see Resources below). The site has sale fares that are updated and changed on a weekly basis. Those deals sometime include the Texas Eagle route.

  2. Step 2

Book your Amtrak ticket by phone at (800) 872-7245.

  3. Step 3

Use the "Quik-Trak" kiosk to buy your tickets at the station. This self-service device is available at Dallas Union Station. You can book your itinerary and print your train boarding passes by using the machine.

  4. Step 4

Bring your own entertainment if you're easily bored. Seasoned Texas Eagle travelers recommend that you bring playing cards, portable electronic devices or cell phones.

  5. Step 5

Make your lunch and dinner reservations in the dining car. Breakfast doesn't require a reservation since many people skip it altogether. Lunch and dinner do require reservations. They're taken in 15-minute increments to prevent over-crowding.

  6. Book a Good Night's Sleep

  7. Step 1

Start small. The roomette features two reclining seats that transform into beds. A large picture window is ideal for one or two passengers.

  8. Step 2

Get a larger room and a better view with the Superliner bedroom. It comes with a complete, enclosed bathroom and a sofa.

  9. Step 3

Travel with the family. The Bedroom Suite is designed for four to six passengers. It also has a private, enclosed bathroom and sofa.

  10. Step 4

Put a little distance between you and the kids with the Family Bedroom. This bedroom features two picture windows. It spans the entire width of the car. There's also a separate sleeping area that accommodates two children.

  11. Step 5

Take advantage of the amenities of the sleeper cars. Meals, daily newspapers, personal attendant service, electrical outlets, climate control and extra space all come with the price of a sleeper car ticket.
