1. Book your ticket through the Amtrak Web site (see Resources below) or call Amtrak at [phone].

2. Choose either a first-class or a coach seat. The coach class on the Texas Eagle offers leg rests and extra space for passengers who choose not to reserve within the sleeper cars. Sleeper cars automatically qualify as first-class accommodations.

3. Expect a 22-hour train ride. This estimate doesn't include layovers.

4. Arrive at Dallas Union Station. Follow the signs posted for baggage claim.
