-
Step 2
Book your train travel online by logging on to the Eurail Web site (see Resources). Decide how many days you will be traveling in the region and then choose either the Eurail Select Pass or Eurail Regional Pass.
-
Step 3
Wait until you get to the region to book the Eurail Regional Pass from Hungary to Slovenia/Croatia. These will only be sold in the Eurail "Aid Offices" in select railway stations in Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary, so do not bother trying to purchase them elsewhere.
-
Step 4
Note the specific locations that will offer you up to 50 percent in discounts for holding a Eurail Regional Pass. Scenic Railway Danube bend, Scenic Railway Budapest, Esztergom, Scenic Railway Keszthely, Badacsonytomaj and Hungarian Railway Heritage Park are all included.
-
Step 5
Pay for your Passes online, or if necessary call a travel agent. You will pay up to 20 percent more if you purchase them within Europe. You will have the passes delivered directly to your door when buying online. Remember to book a specific seat as well. Passes do not guarantee seats. Refer to the Web site for further information.
-
Step 6
Pick the Eurail Regional Pass Hungary to Slovenia/Croatia Pass that will be valid for either 5, 6, 8 or 10 days within a 2 months time period.
-
Step 1
Know the Eurail train travel lingo. The term "Ticket" on Eurail is no longer used and is instead now called a "Pass."
-
Step 2
Take advantage of discounts and other bonuses the Eurail Pass grants you on other travel options. For example, the pass can be used for ferry travel between Ireland and France, Italy and Greece and Germany, Sweden and Finland. The Euro Star Ferry is excluded.
-
Step 3
Be aware of the need for additional costs. Although most trains will allow you to travel for free, some places will require a supplemental fee.
