Choose Cheap Accommodations on Amelia Island

Step1
Call the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council and Welcome Center at (800) 2-AMELIA for more information on finding cheap accommodations in the area. You can also visit their Web site (see Resources, below).
Step2
Look for cheap accommodations near Sadler Road. Just one block from the beach, these accommodations have much cheaper rates. Pay from $100 per night.
Step3
Save money during the week on cheap accommodations, and then book a room in a 5-star hotel for Saturday night. You can find a room that overlooks the ocean for around $150 per night.
Step4
Find a charming bed and breakfast. While these accommodations are cheapest during the off-season, you can find great package deals during the summer months. Pay from $180 per night.

Get to Know the Local Area

Step1
Head to where the shrimping industry had its start. In May, you can go to the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival to enjoy delicious meals and lots of local color. Don't forget the cocktail sauce!
Step2
Travel along Fernandina Beach on horseback. Stop at stables along the beach to book a romantic ride at sunset.
Step3
Steep yourself in history. Amelia Island has a rich culture, so ask a local to tell you one of the famous island legends.

Book Transportation to Amelia Island

Step1
Get a flight straight into Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport. You can take a cab from there to your accommodations, but be sure to ask your driver to take a scenic route along the coast.
Step2
Save money by flying into a major Florida airport. You'll pay less than if you fly directly to Fernandina Beach, and you can charter a boat to take you to Amelia Island. Enjoy the view of the coastline when traveling to your accommodations.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're planning on visiting Amelia Island in the summer, make your flight and hotel reservations early, as accommodations fill up quickly.
  • Be aware that Amelia Island operates under a seasonal schedule. It may be more difficult to reserve cheap accommodations during tourist season, so book in advance.
