Things You'll Need:
- Passport
- Photo identification
-
Step 1
Find accommodations information on the St Vincent and the Grenadines Ministry of Tourism and Culture Web site (see Resources, below). The phone number for the Minister of Tourism is (784) 456-2060.
-
Step 2
Head to the beach for extravagant fun. As you would expect on any Caribbean island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has its fair share of beach resorts. The resorts let you stay close to the sand and surf while enjoying organized social activities, on-site shopping and salons and private beach access.
-
Step 3
Move offshore. Several of the many outlying islands around St. Vincent provide private, quiet accommodations for travelers who are looking to get away from it all. Choose from fancy resorts or small, family-run guest houses in which to spend your nights while you fritter away your days under the palm trees gazing at the waves of the ocean.
-
Step 4
Visit Indian Bay. This is a popular area with tourists, and a large number of hotels are located here. The area has retained its tranquil, intimate feel in spite of a large number of visitors, so you will not find any high-rise towers or luxury resorts. What you will find are smaller, locally run hotels and inns with comfortable rooms, a friendly welcome and excellent service.
-
Step 1
Do a little driving. If you are feeling adventurous and have some time on your hands, renting a car and driving around the island is a relaxing, scenic way to get around. Since most of the major island roads are coastal, you will have ample views of the crystal blue waters as you wind your way around the countryside.
-
Step 2
Catch a minibus. These abundant public transportation gems will stop wherever you want and take you anywhere you want to go. Be on the lookout, because whenever you want a ride, a minibus will probably be along in no time.
-
Step 1
See some of Saint Vincent's past. The nineteenth century Fort Charlotte is still largely intact and houses a small museum with some fascinating relics from the island's native and European history.
-
Step 2
Get back to nature at the botanical gardens. This beautifully landscaped haven for a staggering variety of plants and trees is one of the most popular attractions on the island. Spend a tranquil afternoon exploring its many wonders.
