Things You'll Need:
- Credit card
- Computer with Internet access
-
Step 1
Phone the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau at (888) 252-6746 for lodging information or visit their Web site (see Resources below).
-
Step 2
Camp at a state park around Lansing. Boasting beautiful scenery, campgrounds are close to many great fishing spots and relatively close to the city.
-
Step 3
Find a budget motel north of downtown. These motels are conveniently located near the Capital City Airport. Downtown is nearby and Old Town, Lugnut Stadium and the Eastwood Mall are easily accessible.
-
Step 4
Stay at a resort. Lansing has some luxury hotels offering luxury accoutrements.
-
Step 5
Reserve rooms close to downtown. Between downtown and Michigan State, there are many hotels available, and you'll be close to just about everything.
-
Step 1
Ride Michigan's only triple-decker riverboat, the Michigan Princess. Enjoy lunch and the breathtaking view as you enjoy a pleasant journey down the Grand River.
-
Step 2
Try some traditional Mediterranean food. Mediterranean cuisine is popular in Lansing; a popular delicacy is the shark-fin pie, which feeds several people.
-
Step 3
Enjoy some winter fun. If you like the speed and snow, try the nearby snowmobile trails.
-
Step 1
Take a bus to Lansing. Greyhound offers services all over Michigan and is probably the least-expensive travel option.
-
Step 2
Hop the train to Lansing from Chicago or Port Huron. Amtrak has a daily route between the two cities that stops in Lansing. Trains are not only a fun way to travel, they're less vulnerable to the winter weather that plagues cars and planes.
-
Step 3
Use Lansing's public transportation to get around if you don't want to rent a car. Some regions are well served. For example, the Entertainment Express will get you around the entire entertainment district.
