Book Travel With Air Service Gabon

  1. Step 1

Visit the Libreville offices of Air Service Gabon if you are already in Africa and need to charter a flight.

  2. Step 2

Contact a travel agent familiar with African air carriers to book reservations on Air Service Gabon, since the company does not have the capability to make reservations online.

  3. Step 3

Check to see if Air Service Gabon has an official Web site. At times, the company has had one. At other times, however, access is not available, perhaps due to upgrades.

  4. Relax on Your Flight With Air Service Gabon

  5. Step 1

Enjoy your flight in one of Air Service Gabon's three De Havilland DHC-8s, nicknamed the Dash 8. It is considered to be the quietest turboprop plane in the world, with noise levels comparable to that of a jet airliner.

  6. Step 2

Reserve a window seat for your flight so that you can see the jungle reach right up to the white sand beaches along the Gabonese coast.

  7. Relax on the Beautiful Gabonese Coast

  8. Step 1

Visit the Bateke Plateau, east of Franceville, to see the savannah rising slowly all the way to the Congo.

  9. Step 2

Take one of the scheduled "gorilla walks" at the Reserve de la Lope, implemented by the park system as a way to acclimate gorillas to humans.

Tips & Warnings
  • Whenever traveling in West Africa, drink bottled water only and eat only well-cooked foods.
  • Air Service Gabon currently does not have an English-language Web site or direct booking phone number.
  • Air Service Gabon went through some desperate times in early 2006 when its fleet of three De Havilland DHC-8s were allegedly stolen by Canadian pilots. Although they have been able to keep their business open by borrowing other planes, it is best to find out through a travel agency if the situation has been resolved.
  • Tropical diseases unfortunately can be widespread in Gabon. Get all your vaccinations at least one month before your trip, and bring malaria tablets if your doctor advises you to do so.
