Currently listed on the United States Department of State's Travel Warning list, travel to the Côte d'Ivoire (often referred to as the Ivory Coast) is to be undertaken with extreme caution. However, the international airport continues to operate normally and flights operated by Air Ivoire from Europe still service this West African country.

    Book Travel on Air Ivoire

  1. Step 1

Log on to Air Ivoire's Web site (see Resources below) to review flight schedules to Felix-Houphouet Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Note that the site offers an English-language version, but access to this area can be unreliable. There are two flights weekly directly from Orly and one flight which connects through Marseille. Return flights to these two cities are similarly offered.

  2. Step 2

Book your ticket by dialing the company directly at 011 (+221) 889 02 80.

  3. Step 3

Book a ticket on Air Ivoire from Abidjan to limited destinations in the following countries: Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Senegal and other countries within the region.

  4. Know Your Destination

  5. Step 1

Pack for warm weather when traveling to the Ivory Coast. If you travel June through October, be prepared for wet weather as well.

  6. Step 2

Expect to speak French in Côte d'Ivoire, unless you are familiar with one of the 60 other native dialects spoken here.

Tips & Warnings
  • All country codes are within parentheses and begin with a "+" sign. All phone numbers include the United States international prefix "011." When calling internationally from outside the United States, check which prefix to use.
  • Read the Department of State's latest Consular Information Sheet on Côte d'Ivoire before planning travel to this country.
  • Expect frequent military check-points when traveling in and around Côte d'Ivoire. Most governments strongly advise against travel within this country and soldiers may behave aggressively towards you.
  • Travel to and within Côte d'Ivoire should be undertaken with extreme caution.
  • Beware of individuals impersonating police or customs officers who offer to expedite entry into this country for exorbitant fees. There is no fee associated with entry to Côte d'Ivoire.
  • Do not surrender your passport or other travel documents to any individual not clearly identified as a uniformed government official.
