Book a trip on the Western Explorer for an 8-day tour of British Columbia and and Western Alberta. This tour traverses the Canadian Rockies. Part of the trip is by motorcoach (between Jasper and Calgary). Tour prices start around $1,600. This is the most popular tour at Rocky Mountaineer Railtours.

Book a trip on the Trans Canada Rail Adventure, which crosses the country from Vancouver to Toronto. This 12-day trip uses the Rocky Mountaineer train and a motorcoach. The 16-day version of this trip extends travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Prices start around $2,800.

Consider taking the Classic Rail Circle tour to begin and end in Vancouver. This 7-day trip goes from Vancouver to Whistler on the Whistler Mountaineer and then from Whistler to Jasper and back to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer. Prices start around $1,700.

Tips & Warnings
GoldLeaf and RedLeaf refer are the different classes of tickets. GoldLeaf tickets are equivalent to first class, and RedLeaf are equivalent to second class.

Bring sunglasses on the train as the sun can be bright, especially in the mountains.
Pack a sweater or light jacket even in the summer, as temperatures vary with elevation.
Most Rocky Mountaineer trains only operate from April to October because of the long daylight hours. They do offer a few winter tours in December, however.
With the exception of guide dogs, no pets are allowed on Rocky Mountaineer trains.
