The Bahamas have prospered primary through tourism; so expect to be well taken care of during your visit.

Feel free to speak English, the official language. Creole is sometimes spoken among the Haitian population.

Fly into Nassau's Internation Airport. Nassau is also the hub that connects flights to the other islands.

Sail here on one of the dozen luxury cruise lines that service The Bahamas. You'll debark from the boat at Prince George Wharf, on the northern coast.

Get around the city by riding local minibuses called jitneys. When you'd like to get off, just yell, "Bus stop!" Pay the driver when you exit.

Hail a taxi or just hire one from the front of any hotel. They're metered; but the fares are predetermined by the government.

Rent a scooter and drive around town! You can usually rent one at major hotels.

You could rent a car; but you'll have to sit in traffic on Nassau's one way streets. This is not a recommended way to travel.

Hire a horse drawn surrey and take your time exploring downtown. You can haggle on the fare and even negotiate the length of the tour.
