Named for the sandstone formations found in this Wisconsin River gorge, Wisconsin Dells provides a popular escape from the local cities. The town also enjoys a reputation as the "Water Park Capital of the World." Of the 21 water parks here, 18 are indoors and open year-round.

Call the Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau at (800) 223-3557 or visit the Web site (see the Resources section below) to book your travel accommodations.
Step2
Keep it cheap by staying at one of Wisconsin Dell's 20 campgrounds. Some are privately run, while others fall under state park jurisdiction. Save your money for the amusement parks while experiencing the real outdoors by camping.
Step3
Stay in a cabin or cottage that gives you more comfort than your average tent. Wisconsin Dells boasts more than 20 accommodations with rental cabins or cottages. Most have small kitchens to minimize dining costs.

Live it up at one of the area's several luxury resort accommodations. Nearly two dozen resorts are located here, each offering first-class amenities. Many feature their own small water parks on the grounds.
