The MacBook Pro comes in two sizes, 15 inches and 17 inches. You can use a monitor with a MacBook Pro to get a larger and better view on the screen. Here is how to connect the monitor to your laptop.
Connect MacBook Pro with a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) port

Power on the monitor. Attach the display cables with the MacBook Pro. It will detect the monitor.

Make necessary resolution changes on the monitor through the System Preference or the Display status in the Menu bar.
Connect MacBook Pro with a VGA (Video Graphic Array) port

Switch on the monitor. Attach the DVI to VGA adapter comes with your laptop to the VGA connector of the external monitor.

Connect the adapter to the MacBook Pro. It will automatically detect the monitor.
Step3
Make resolution changes on the external monitor with the System Preference or the Display status in the Menu bar.
Use a Monitor with a MacBook Pro

After connecting a monitor to MacBook Pro, you can use a common mouse with both devices. Once the mouse reaches the edge of the laptop screen, it will appear on the monitor. You can have the same image on the screens of your laptop and the monitor. This is known as mirroring.

While working on the files in the larger monitor, you can check the emails and messages on your laptop.
Step3
Drag and save the file on the external monitor. You must drag it from the Menu bar until it enters the monitor. Alternatively, you can drag the files from the corner of the screen.
Step4
Boot the computer using the external monitor. Connect the monitor, open the laptop and switch on the power.

In order to use MacBook Pro with the closed display, the power adapter should be plugged into it.
