After connecting a 5.1-channel surround amplifier to the Sony DVP-CX860 CD/DVD player, you'll feel as if you are in a cineplex or attending a live performance. Follow these steps to turn your home into theater.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Optical digital connecting cord
  • Sony DVP-CX860 CD/DVD player
  • 5.1-channel surround amplifier
  • Coaxial digital connecting cord
  • S Video cord
Step1
Make sure you have all the cords required--optical digital connecting cord, coaxial digital connecting cord and S Video cord--to connect the player to a 5.1-channel surround amplifier. Only the S Video cord comes with the player. You can buy the optical digital connecting cord and the coaxial digital connecting cord from your local electronics store.
Step2
Insert the plug pin of the optical digital connecting cord into the player’s optical digital output jack. Insert its other end (plug pin) into the receiver's optical digital input jack.
Step3
Insert the plug pin of the coaxial digital connecting cord into the player’s coaxial digital output jack. Insert the other end (plug pin) into the receiver's coaxial digital input jack.
Step4
Remember that the S Video cord is connected to the television and not to the receiver. Insert the plug pin of the S Video cord into the player's S Video output jack. Insert its other end (plug pin) into your television's S Video input jack.

Tips & Warnings

  • Switching on the power switch or connecting the power cord to the AC outlet before you complete the connections might damage the player.
  • Avoid connecting the power cord to an AC outlet you are already using. outlet with the receiver. For example, connecting the power cord to an AC outlet in which you have already plugged in the receiver might cancel the receiver's playback memory, Bookmark, Disk explorer and menu settings on the Off mode.
  • Connect the cords firmly to their appropriate jacks to avoid sound disturbance.
