Asian beetles are best managed by prevention; once they are in your home, however, they can be eliminated.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start outdoors in the fall. You will be able to see where Asian beetles are gathering to identify where they may hibernate. Look in those areas for cracks or other ways in which the beetles could get inside and seal them off.

  2. Step 2

Once you have sealed up potential entry points from the outside, you will want to do the same thing on the inside, particularly in the basement and attic.

  3. Step 3

Be sure to caulk the areas between pipes and wires coming through the walls to seal them off.

  4. Step 4

Check your windows and doors and seal off any areas where insects might get through.

  5. Step 5

If you intend to use insecticides, keep in mind that they are most effective when used outdoors in the area where they beetles gather and before they are able to get inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are going to use a pesticide, be sure that it is labeled for outdoor use and that you follow all of the directions on the label.
  • If you are planning to use dusts or aerosols indoors, be sure to follow the directions on the label.
