You can use iTunes for Internet music playback. Anytime you open an audio or video file on a Web site, iTunes will appear and play the selected media. iTunes will also automatically open and play downloaded media material.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the Edit menu. When you have opened iTunes, locate and open the Edit menu found at the upper left hand section of the screen. Click on Preferences, found at the bottom of the Edit menu list.

  2. Step 2

Locate the word Advanced at the top of the Preferences screen. It is a tab that you can click to open a particular set of advanced options. After clicking the Advanced tab, locate the General tab that appears beneath it. Chances are that the General tab is already chosen and viewable.

  3. Step 3

Change your storage location. Near the top of the “General” screen is a text window that shows you where on your computer your stored music is located. This location can be changed by clicking on the “Change…” button and browsing for a new housing location, or by clicking the “Reset” button and reverting back to the default storage location.

  4. Step 4

Enable the setting labeled “Use iTunes for Internet music playback.”

  5. Step 5

Apply changes. When you are done with this screen you can click “OK” to apply all of the new management changes or you can click “Cancel” to exit without applying any of the changes you may have checked.

Tips & Warnings
  • The Internet is full of viruses that may be hidden in online media files. Take precautions before playing or downloading media files that you find online. Scan them with available virus protection software.
