How to Connect Video Cords for the Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player

Setting up your Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player isn't as difficult as you may believe. In just a few minutes, you can have the video and audio cords connected to your television and/or VCR. Before you begin, make sure you have access to the back of your television and have unpacked your Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player, as well as the included cords.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Television or input device (amplifier/receiver or projector)
  • Sony DVP-NS41P
  • Video cords (included with your DVD player)
  • Optional component cord or S-Video cord

    Connect to Television, Projector, Receiver or AV Amplifier

  1. Step 1

    Locate the video cord that was included with your Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player. The video cord has two identical ends, each with a red, yellow and white plug.

  2. Step 2

    Plug one yellow end into the yellow Video Input or Video In jack. This is usually located in back of the television or device, though on some sets you'll find the opening on the front.

  3. Step 3

    Get hold of the other end of the video cord and find the red, yellow and white slots in the back of your Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player. These are found near the marker Line Out (Video).

  4. Step 4

    Insert the yellow plug into the yellow opening at the back of your CD/DVD player.

  5. Step 5

    Turn on the television and the CD/DVD player.

  6. Step 6

    Press the Progressive button on the front panel of the CD/DVD player until the setting is Normal.

  7. Connect to a Device With a Progressive Signal (Component Cable)

  8. Step 1

    Obtain a component cable from an electronics store. A component cord has two identical ends, each with a red, green and blue plug.

  9. Step 2

    Plug one red end into the red "Pr" jack, usually located in back of the television. On some sets you'll find the opening on the front.

  10. Step 3

    Find the green end nearest the red end you just plugged into the signal receiver (TV).

  11. Step 4

    Plug the green end into the green opening on the back or front of the signal receiver (TV), marked with a "Y."

  12. Step 5

    Find the blue end nearest the red and green ends you have plugged into the receiver.

  13. Step 6

    Insert the blue end into the blue opening of the television or receiver, marked with "Pb."

  14. Step 7

    Get hold of the other end of the video cord and find the red, green and blue slots in the back of your Sony DVP-NS41P CD/DVD Player. These are found near the marker "Component to Video Out."

  15. Step 8

    Insert the red plug into the red opening, the green plug into the green opening and the blue plug into the blue opening.

  16. Step 9

    Turn on the television and the CD/DVD player.

  17. Step 10

    Press the Progressive button on the front panel of the CD/DVD player to set the player to set your player to Progressive Auto.

  18. Connect Via S-Video

  19. Step 1

    Obtain an S-Video cable from an electronics store.

  20. Step 2

    Plug one end into the S-Video Input located on the back of the television or device.

  21. Step 3

    Insert the other end of the cord into the S-Video Out opening on the back of your CD/DVD Player.

  22. Step 4

    Turn on the television and the CD/DVD player.

  23. Step 5

    Press the Progressive button on the front panel of the CD/DVD player to set the player to set your player to Normal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Not all cables are supplied with the DVD player. If you want to use an S-Video cable or a component cable, you'll need to purchase them separately.
  • Don't connect your DVD player to your VCR before connecting it to your television. The hi-definition feature of the Sony DVP-NS41P will be lost if run through a VCR.
