The Philips DVP642 is a versatile DVD and CD player with many great features. The progressive scan display presents 60 frames per second on your television screen, rather than 30 frames per second on interlaced scanning, which is what a normal television system can handle. With double the frames per second, the picture resolution is much higher and the progressive scan eliminates jagged edges on moving objects in the movies you watch. In order to take advantage of the progressive scan mode on the Philips DVP642, you must have a progressive scan television. If your television is not capable of handling progressive scan, or the cables are not hooked up right, you will only see a blank screen. You can easily deactivate this feature on the Philips DVP642 by following the steps below.
