An equatorial mount facilitates better viewing of objects both in the sky and on land. It facilitates the moving of a telescope on two perpendicular axes of motion called the Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (DEC). You can view a sharper image of an object when the equatorial mount is properly attached to the tripod and appropriately polar aligned. Here is how to attach the equatorial mount to the tripod for the Sky-Watcher SK804TAEQ Tabletop Telescope:

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Know that the equatorial mount comes with the adjustment feature. It controls the altitude or up-down and azimuth or left-right directions of motion. The equatorial mount is more useful in tracking astronomical objects.
Step2
Install the tripod legs by screwing all three legs into the holes in the tripod base.
Step3
Attach the equatorial mount on the tripod. For doing so, use the large knurled knob located underneath for azimuth adjustment. Loosen the knob and turn the mount head around the azimuth axis.
Step4
Use the T-bolts provided for altitude adjustment.
Step5
Make use of the control cables for fine adjustment after the knobs have been locked.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is recommended to assemble the telescope in daylight hours for better visibility.
  • Do the assembly where you have adequate space to keep all the parts.
  • Avoid overtightening of the screws. It can damage the tripod.
