How to Assemble the Sky-Watcher SKMAK90SP Maksutov-Cassegrain Spotting Scope

The Sky-Watcher SKMAK90SP Maksutov-Cassegrain Spotting Scope is a powerful device with a focal length of 1250mm. Assembling this spotting scope is considered easy. The entire assembling procedure can be broadly divided into three steps: attaching the tube to the mount, attaching the red dot finder and inserting the eyepiece. Here is how you can do it:

Instructions

1. Place the telescope tube on the mount. Secure the telescope in place by fixing two thumbscrews and washers in the grooves provided below.

2. Look for the finderscope bracket toward the end of the telescope tube. Remember that the Sky-Watcher SKMAK90SP uses a red dot finder.

3. Locate the rectangular slot on the bracket and slide the red dot finder into it. Secure the red dot finder by tightening the screws.

4. Locate the thumbscrews provided near the focus tube, toward the end of the telescope. Loosen the screws and insert the diagonal into the thumbscrews. Tighten the thumbscrews to secure the diagonal in place.

5. Select an eyepiece for your telescope. Loosen the thumbscrews on the diagonal and insert the eyepiece there.

6. Tighten the screws carefully after you are done.

Tips & Warnings

• Go through the instruction manual thoroughly before you start with the assembling procedure.
• Fix the assembly in broad daylight. This will make sure that you don’t lose any tiny parts like thumbscrews.
• Do not overtighten the screws. Doing so may damage your telescope.
• Do not touch any optical surface while arranging the assembly.
