Tips & Warnings
  • Although train travel in China is relatively safe, it's still a good idea to have your medical records handy, especially if you need to take medication during your train trip.
  • Contact the U.S. State Department to receive any safety warnings about your destination, prior to travel.
  • The government recommends tourists take the famous nonstop Z trains.
  • Be sure to write down any and all confirmation numbers you receive; keep them with you until you're on the train.
  • If you're going to be in China for more than a month, register with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.
  • Make a copy of the photo page of your passport and store it separately from the real thing. It's smart to leave a copy in your hotel's safe, too. Have the number of the embassy on hand, too, so you can reach them quickly if you lose your passport or discover it is stolen.
  • Call China-Train Ticket at 86 10 65266721 or visit the link below.

on 12/12/2008 To the person who was asking for a place to buy cheap china flights, I’ve been booking my flights from http://www.bamboobookings.com for the past 3 years that I’ve been living in China and have had great reliability. Other companies end up never booking what I want and I end up wasting time and money going to the airports.
