1. Utilize the Fare Finder Tool at the Amtrak Web site (see link below). Depending on your Boston train station departure point, enter BOS for South Station, BBY for Back Bay or RTE for Westwood-Route 128. Indicate SPI for Springfield into the "Arrives" field. Alternatively, call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL.

2. Choose a departure date and time followed by passenger details. Sort by fare or schedule to see your itinerary options.

3. Click on the schedule that fits most closely to your travel needs. Review the amenities column to know what's on your train.

4. View and change your seating and sleeping accommodations by clicking on the green box to your right. Choose your preferred option then 'Calculate Fare' for the adjusted price. Click 'Cancel Upgrade' if you didn't chose any to return to the previous screen.

5. Take advantage of any discounts you qualify for by using the scroll-down box. Use your promotion code if you have one.

6. Click "View Fare" to review your itinerary and ticket price. Modify as necessary using the provided option. Otherwise click "Next."

7. Provide your passenger information using your Amtrak log-in and password. You can also continue as a guest.

8. Review and choose your preferred Ticket Delivery Option. Provide your Amtrak Guest Rewards number if you have one.

9. Fill out Billing Information by providing an Amtrak accepted credit card. Type in your billing address and click purchase.

10. Keep your Reservation Confirmation for reference. Get your ticket via the delivery option you chose.
