How to Book Train Travel From Paso Robles, CA To San Diego
Aan Diego is beautiful any time of the year--this is an area that's geographically incapable of being ugly. Taking a trip there is a good idea, but getting it together takes a little bit of work. Flying, driving by car--forget it. Book train tickets for a scenic and stress-free journey.

Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device.

If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.

Decide which fare is best for you. Each of the routes will put you on the Pacific Surfliner, giving you a beautiful view of the ocean and the countryside. However, only one route will have you on two trains (as opposed to taking a bus to catch a train), and this choice is almost twice as expensive.

Tips & Warnings
Book your train travel far in advance (more than four days) so that the tickets can be mailed to you.
Take only as much as you will need, since the Paso Robles station does not have baggage checking.
As of this writing, Amtrak does not offer routes from Paso Robles to its two San Diego bus stops, at Sea World and the world famous San Diego Zoo. At the train station, you can take a cab to either of these locations.
