How to Book Train Travel from St. Louis to Chicago

Amtrak offers several trains daily from St. Louis to Chicago, a national hub for the government-subsidized provider. Not only can you choose from several different times for the nearly six-hour trip, but you can also add services to make your ride more enjoyable.

Choose Your Ticket

You have more than a half-dozen travel times for the trip daily with departures ranging from 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle. Go to to book your travel time. Both lines feature coffee and beverage service, but only Texas Eagle offers dining possibilities while only Lincoln Service has Wi-Fi on the train.

Travel in Comfort

If you want to splurge, take the Texas Eagle and purchase a ticket with a Superliner Roomette. This private room has two reclining seats that convert to beds and a big picture window. An upper berth folds down for additional sleeping options. Meals are included in the ticket cost, which is about five times the price of a standard ticket.
