How to Book Train Travel from Chicago to Quincy, IL
One of the most popular Amtrak lines, the Illinois Zephyr, added a partner in 2006, the Carl Sandberg, to carry passengers from Chicago to Quincy, IL. The two trains are a comfortable way for travelers to make the 258-mile trip between the two cities.

Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device.

If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.

Ride in luxury. Business class offers more legroom and special amenities for about $15 extra. You can try to upgrade on board, but you have a better shot at getting a business class seat by reserving it in advance.

Tips & Warnings
There are two trains to Quincy from Chicago, the Carl Sandberg in the morning and the Illionis Zephyr in late afternoon.
The Quincy train station is on the northeast end of town, so have a friend or relative pick you up if possible.
The Illinois Zephyr almost consistently sold out, but with the addition of the Carl Sandberg it is a bit easier to book train travel to Quincy.
